Hello Appwrite team,
I formally object to the retroactive change of the Education plan terms applied to my organization (ID: 6a102a114cabfc606aa5).
I joined the Appwrite Education program on 22 May 2026 through the GitHub Student Developer Pack (first invoice period: 22 May – 21 Jun 2026). At that time, the offer explicitly stated it was available throughout the course of my student career. I accepted the offer and built my project on Appwrite on that basis. I am still an active student.
Appwrite has now unilaterally applied a 6-month limit to existing organizations. My plan is set to end on 18 November 2026, which is even shorter than the new 6-month term counted from my start date. My organization will then be disabled and its projects deleted.
I did not receive any email notice. The only notice was a Console modal shown about 3 weeks before the end (screenshot attached). That falls short even of the 30 days' notice in your own Terms, and a Console pop-up is not proper notice of a material change.
I request that you:
- keep my organization on the original terms for as long as I remain a student, as offered when I joined, and at minimum correct the end date to no earlier than 22 November 2026;
- if you refuse, explain in writing the legal basis for applying the new terms retroactively to existing organizations, and confirm whether any email notice was sent to my account;
- not disable or delete my organization or projects while this request is pending.
I am an EU consumer. Unilateral changes to the terms of a digital service without proper notice may conflict with EU consumer protection law (Directive 2019/770 and Directive 93/13). If this is not resolved, I will escalate to the European Consumer Centre.
I am ready to re-verify my student status at any time. Please respond by 10 November 2026.
