Hey guys... iam facing this very peculiar trouble with my linux distro... I use Pop!_OS on my HP victus gaming laptop with nvedia 2050 graphics card.... The problem iam facing is related to wifi connection issue... I had no issue with wifi when I connect with my personal hotspot from my mobile...but iam facing this issue that iam not able to get internet access even after successfully connecting to my college wifi .. My wifi gets connected but i don't get internet access... I tried everything but nothing works ..what could be the reason? Is it because of the new Cosmic distro or is it related to Pop!_OS itself....iam just too frustrated and I can't work without my college wifi...I need it to access internal websites...

I have my entire dev environment setup and iam pretty comfortable with it...I don't want to make a shift and give it another chance to fix this issue

TL;DR
The user had a wifi issue on Pop!_OS linux distro. They realized the problem was with their browser settings conflicting with the college's DNS. They had set their DNS to Cloudflare for better speed and safety, but needed to disable it to access internal college websites. Solution: Turn off secure DNS to Cloudflare when connecting to enterprise networks with their own DNS.

I can help with this. Since your hotspot works but your college Wi-Fi doesn't, it's likely not a Pop! OS or COSMIC issue. It could be a problem with your DNS, captive portal/authentication, IPv6, or how your college network handles Linux devices. What happens when you connect can you access the login portal, or does it just show "Connected" with no internet?

Thank you Albert....i figured it out this morning The issue was that the private enterprises often use their own DNS like my college because they have their internal websites which we cannot access without their wifi or vpn...so i observed that I was able to run "ping -c 4 google.com" in my terminal which means I am successfully connected to the internet but there is some issue with my browser...turns out i earlier turned on secure DNS to cloudflare 1.1.1.1 which is for safety and better speed but for trusted enterprises like my college i should have turned it off

Glad you figured it out! That makes sense Secure DNS pointing to Cloudflare can definitely interfere with enterprise networks that rely on their own DNS for internal services. Nice catch. If you ever run into anything similar again or need help with Linux, networking, or anything else, feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to help.
