?i am using appwrite sites to host.

TL;DR
Developers experiencing runtime timeouts and updates not showing in real-time on their website built with Typescript, React, Next.js, and Tailwind CSS. Cold starts and long wait times mentioned, potentially affected by the use of TurboPack, resulting in timeouts for some users. Suggestions made to optimize build sizes, check for any special configurations affecting server start, and address issues on the development end. Inquiries made about project, site IDs, and checked for any errors in the site deployment process. Keep investigating the issue and share updates when available.

@The Hat Guy I just tried to access your site from a different region via VPN, I got the timeout at first, but after checking again it worked. It seems like the cold start is above normal, are you doing anything special on server start?

The Hat Guy
30 Nov, 2025, 15:33

? ..i wouldn't know how to do anything special on start.

The Hat Guy
30 Nov, 2025, 15:34

better yet what would be considered special?

eldad

Hey @The Hat Guy it's working absolutely fine on my end too

eldad
30 Nov, 2025, 15:34

yeh, seems its just a very long cold start and once at least one runtime starts it works smooth

The Hat Guy
30 Nov, 2025, 15:35

Yeah it the site is on older version.

@The Hat Guy can you try building it with turbopack? https://appwrite.io/blog/post/turbopack-support-appwrite-sites Turbopack reduced the build size significantly which can lead to significantly faster cold starts

The Hat Guy

I just put on a new version that should time out.

try to reload in a minute see if it "fixes" itself

Recently, there were few people complaining about this same timeout error. And the surprising thing is, when I tried running their websites on my end, those sites worked absolutely fine. Without any error. Don't know why the creators only were facing this issue while everybody else can see it. I guess sometimes it could be region or browser issue too.

most likely slow cold starts, we're working to optimize this as much as possible on our end as well, should expect a few more releases to address this point.

The Hat Guy
30 Nov, 2025, 15:51

12 mins - I just hit reload and got another time out.

The Hat Guy
30 Nov, 2025, 15:51

Yeah watching the deployment of the site doesn't seem build in real time.

The Hat Guy
