In fact it is normal for you to have service interruptions regularly , it’s been 5 months I use AppWrite (paid) and I must be at my 5th interruption (without counting the problems with each renewal of the SSL certificate). Look in the support section you will see in the state no one can use AppWrite to be in production.

TL;DR
Developers commenting on ongoing issues and reliability concerns with Appwrite cloud services. Developers express frustration and concern about interruptions impacting their projects, but some appreciate the team's efforts to improve reliability. The team acknowledges the issues, apologizes for interruptions, and mentions ongoing maintenance to address database problems. A developer reports issues with SSL certificate renewal and questions general service interruptions, highlighting a lack of awareness from the team. The conversation ends with an acknowledgment of interruptions and initial fixes being implemented, along with a mention of upcoming maintenance to enhance reliability.

Hello! I'm not aware of your specific issues that you faced with cloud, but as far as I know the only recent issues that cloud had were a database issue that affected to some projects, a DDoS attack, and an unexpected/new database issue that affects projects there (like this one).

Every time there is a problem the database does not respond , functions, SSL.... and you 'not aware'.

Those are not general issues. They only affect a portion of users and also a portion of the requests to some of the affected projects

Others are not critical like the issues in the newly introduced backup feature

well apparently I’m always in the "portion"of user

Anyways, the team is working on increasing reliability of the cloud services and in fact has planned a maintenance to try to fix those kind of issues permanently

Yes, unfortunately. For example, all my projects in cloud are working fine right now 😬

I look forward to my next bug when renewing the SSL certificate on December 2 (1969)

Anyways, I apology for the issues that you have faced. The team is constantly working on avoiding those present and future issues. In fact there will be a scheduled maintenenance soon to improve the reliability of some databases: https://status.appwrite.online/maintenance/461368

It’s even more worrying how you try to make all this interuption for things that never happen...

Hmm weird. Do you have reported this previously? if not I recommend creating a separated post for this so the team investigates and work on solving it.

Apologies @soorisaw! The team has fixed it now. Thanks for your patience!

Yes, I completely understand it

I understand there are some issues. The team is actively working on them!

I don’t think your excuses will be of any use to me with my clients. I have a debian server with many application deployed with docker , never before 'here I had service interruption as with appwrite. Your idea with AppWrite is great frankly I understand the complexity of such a solution and I wish you the best, but in the state no pro can work like that , it’s our professional death that you signed.

D5
14 Nov, 2024, 18:39

Yes, I completely understand. As mentioned, those issues are not something caused due to appwrite testing directly in the server or similar, but a chain of errors caused by several factors like other projects using appwrite that result on issues in the databases.

The databases itself are redundant and have use a HA server.

The appwrite team works constantly on testing in specific environments and implementing different architectural changes to prevent those kind of issues from happening again

I totally get your frustration. the Appwrite team is definitely working on improving things to make it more reliable. while there can be hiccups, they’re focused on making sure it’s solid for pros like you. your feedback is super helpful, and i’m sure they’ll continue to make things better.

It’s definitely tough to work with interruptions like that. hopefully, with continued updates, things will get smoother for you and your clients.

As I said I wish you all the best, I admire the work you do, congratulations to the whole team, but the customer does not care. Thank you for taking the time to answer. good luck. and I’m not bothering you anymore

@soorisaw An alternative if you want to have full control is to self-host appwrite, but obviously you need to maintain it

What do you mean by reproach?

This is a valid point. Like it or not but Appwrite team needs to take this criticism to heart.
