What do I need to add in my privacy policy if I use Appwrite in my PWA?

TL;DR
The OP is asking about what to mention in their privacy policy when using Appwrite Cloud. Some users mention that Appwrite Cloud is not fully GDPR compliant and suggest using Appwrite self-hosted instead. Others recommend mentioning in the privacy policy that the app uses Appwrite Cloud and provide a link to Appwrite's privacy policy. Solution: The suggested solution is to mention in the privacy policy that the app uses Appwrite Cloud and provide a link to Appwrite's privacy policy. Additionally, it is suggested to consider using Appwrite self-hosted if GDPR compliance is a concern.

You'll need to add all your data access, and you can add something like,

This app is uses Appwrite Cloud, you can fine their privacy policy right here. https://appwrite.io/policy/privacy

If you're in Europe or most of your clients will be located there, you should not use Appwrite cloud, since it's not GDPR complaint

Instead, you should go for self-hosted

It's really easy to self-host, in fact there's a on-click installation script for digitalocean

@D5 oh that's sad. I really want to use appwrite cloud in the eu. I manage some larger project for larger german companies. I don't want to go with supabase because their interface isn't as easy to use as the appwrite interface. I really want to recommend appwrite cloud as plug and play solution to the companies. Is gdpr compilance on the roadmap?

It's not GDPR complaint?

In the link I've sent it looks like it does.

Uses Google analytics without consent and ther's not any available DPA

So cloud is not complaint

Suapase is also not GDPR complaint, at least their functions

I could say that yes, it's in the roadmap, however, meanwhile as said, you can use appwrite self-hosted. It's almost plug and play: https://marketplace.digitalocean.com/apps/appwrite you just need to click install, follow the steps and done

Just saw that and it looked like they are fully compliant. They also have a DPA: https://github.com/orgs/supabase/discussions/2341

It seems like in the EU (I live in Germany), more companies and Indie Hackers use supabase. I think if appwrite cloud would be gdpr compliant, it would help appwrite to gain more popularity in this area. In my daily work I consult big German companies in technological topics and I would like to recommend the Appwrite Cloud because it is so easy and simple.
